This painting is inspired by a quote I encountered multiple times during my research for the AFK: "Welcome to the end of the world, we've been waiting for you," originally spoken by a resident of the Amazon. These words expose the inequality in the impact of climate change: while the majority of emissions come from the West, it is often the poorer regions of the world that bear the consequences first.
